Berry Jam Quilt Pattern! Take a look at these for some inspiration.

Hi Friends!!!

Welcome to the Berry Jam Quilt Pattern beauty pageant. Below are some of the Berry Jam quilts I have made over the years. I LOVE this design. Personally, I have made 10 and I am not sick of the pattern yet. This is a great pattern to make just like I tell you to in the pattern or customize and really have fun with. Each one I have made has been different. If I want it to be bigger, I just add more, if I want it smaller I cut part off. You are the artist here! Please use the pattern as an orientation…a jumping-off place. Have fun. Let me know what you think and if you have a favorite. I can’t wait to see what you make! Please share your quilt with #berryjamquilt so I can see your work and show you off!

The Original Berry Jam quilt! I made this with 14 fat quarters from Paint Brush Studio. These are all available in my shop. The background is Goldilocks from RJR. This color is hard to find anymore as it was a special color for the Original Cotton+Steel.

This Berry Jam was made with 16 fat quarters so I could finish the final frame of strip sets. I know the abrupt ending in the frame of the cover quilt may put people off, so this is a great solution. Just add more strip sets! The Background of this quilt is Sulfur by Paint Brush Studio.

I wanted to have a more rectangular quilt for the bed, so I started the pattern with a rectangle instead of a square. This quilt was made with 14 green fat quarters from Paint Brush Studios (all available in my shop) and the background it Pale Iris.

This is one of my favorite Berry Jam quilts. I made it with 14 fat quarters from Cherrywood Hand dyes. It is so soft and beautiful. I added some improv flying geese to the frames for extra fun. You can find Cherrywood Hand Dyes on their website. I hand picked the colors I wanted, but you could certainly select a couple gradient bundles. I believe the background is ICING by Cherrywood.

I have made several Berry Jam quilts with print fabric, but I gave them away without taking pictures. If I never took a picture, did the quilt even happen? At any rate it was fun to make another. This is a very fast quilt afterall. I pulled 16 favorite fat quarters from my stash and immediately began slicing them up. As I was laying the quilt out, I wasn’t wild about how it was looking. The colors read very nursery to me and I wanted something more mature. I had these cute, retro-looking stars from another project I am working on and I added them in for fun and I LOVED how the mood of the quilt changed. Now it is definitely teenager. These star blocks are called Little Astra and they are a free gift to you for a limed time when you purchase the Berry Jam Quilt Pattern from my shop.

Here is my Mixed Berry Jam quilt. It started as a regular Berry Jam Quilt, but instead of working around a center, I just worked off two sides, then went crazy. I really had a blast making this quilt. I love how red wakes a quilt up. I tossed in a couple cute red triangles, then some rows of red triangles. Black and Red are good friends, so the little black triangles wanted to come hang out too. This was so much fun to make come together. My Improv pieces are like puzzles, but much more fun. Mixed Berry Jam is Hanging at QuiltCon in Raleigh later this month.

I tend to quilt my Berry Jam Quilts very simply. Normally just an uneven grid. But you certainly don’t have to go easy on the quilting. This quilt pattern makes a great canvas for some really thrilling quilting. For this version I decided to really have a good time. Instead of making the strip sets, I just worked with wide cuts of Essex linen, with the narrow sashing being the sparkly essex. I thought I was going to quilt rows of fancy feathers, but when it came time to quilt it, it dawned on me that I desperately needed an updated Welsh Quilting class sample, so BOOM. I went to Wales on this quilt. I know that feathers and Welsh quilting are not supposed to go together (feathers are for Durham quilts afterall), but rules are meant to be broken. I added a big flashy feather and a fairly tame feather in the dark sparkly fabric. I used wool batting and black thread. The back of this quilt is pretty cool too.

Here is a picture of the quilt while it was still loaded up on the table. It is fun to quilt the heck out of a simple quilt.

So, this was a lot of Berry Jam Quilt inspiration and information. I hope it triggers something creative inside you and you zip over to the shop and purchase the pattern. Thank you so much!!!!

But Wait! There is More! I also filmed a class on how to make the Berry Jam quilt. This is perfect if you are a visual learner or just want more of a class experience. I share lots of great tips that just didn’t fit in the pattern.

Happy Sewing friends!

xoxo
